I would go for the hydraulic as well but the air ride maintenance thing is so grossly overrated on agtalk it's crazy, our detach is an 07. Air ride with air lift rear, we have replaced exactly 0 air ride parts.....
I suppose it depends on the age of the trailer and if it spent it's life in the salt. Ours is older and saw plenty of wisconsin winters. Like many trailers on a farm, it sits more than it gets used. The rubber air bags have a much shorter life than steel springs, not to mention the leveling valves associated with air ride. Working under them isn't fun either. Ours needed a few bags and a valve, so we cheated and just put the trailer on its side to make working on it a bit easier.
