With agco buying trimble and already owning percision planting, is there any talk about them updating the trimble monitor to be more like a 2020 monitor? I think I would be great if they could merge the autosteer of the trimble and the planting and harvest monitoring of the 2020 in to 1 monitor. And actually make it where it is capable of talking to a massey or gleaner combine (the 2020 monitor doesnt talk to them) I am not a fan of all the screens in the cab so having 1 monitor that is capable of doing both and be able to talk to climate on my ipad would be awesome. 2 screens vs 3 or 4 is way better in my opinion.
I have asked this exact question to the PTx Trimble team...They basically said don't get your hopes up. I also took from the conversation that it will be more of a Precision Planting problem than Trimble, as the Trimble guys would love to do it from what I took from the conversation.
AGCO is basically running Precision Planting, now PTx Precision, as a separate entity...which I get, because a large majority of it's business is retrofit to competitor machines...but, there are a lot of us dealers and some AGCO employees that don't feel that is always a great approach. Now, do I disagree, not exactly...but I don't agree either. It's good to have it separate, but it would be better for some things if it was more integrated. It's an odd situation, which it always would be, but it's one of the very few things AGCO has left alone.
Here's what I do know...no matter what they did, "farmers" would call AGCO the bad guys. They would say they killed it, or they would say they aren't running it right, or whatever...AGCO is always wrong...at least on NAT LOL
