I have a Pioneer 700 as well.
No first hand experience, from what I've read on one of the Facebook groups they are very very very susceptible to making sure the oil is at least to the full mark, if not even slightly over.
If not, then transmission doesn't want to shift properly.
From the other site, it sounds like the issues you are describing.
Also sounds like it's more likely to happen when cold.
