We have used a tree blade (circular saw looking blade made to cut trees) on our gas powered weed eater for a few years and have had great results. No reason it would not work on an electric trimmer, but you may find the handle and stick portion of the trimmer a bit flimsy for the task if you get into any 1” plus trees.
