Latimer, Iowa (north central)
Just some quick math for fun.

A box of Honey Nut Cheerios is 10.8 oz and sells for 4 bucks. A bushel of oats is 512 oz and sells for 4 bucks.

512/10.8=47 boxes per bushel if all the weight was oats.

$4 a bushel/47 boxes is 8.5 cents of oats in a box.
$6.5 a bushel/47 boxes is 14 cents of oats in a box.

We can grow oats, without chemical, and make $200 per acre after land at $6.50 for farm gate price. Throw in the transportation savings of moving groats from Winterpeg to distribution networks in the US vs transporting from northern Iowa and the economics are there. Not running down Canada at all, just economics.
