We considered a solar powered lift station for a project two years ago. From Jamie. Was a 45 to 50 acre field on 30 foot centers. Decided against it, for the following reasons.
Rainy, cloudy days... which of course is when we need the pump running.... there may not be enough power generated by the solar panel.
Also.... there's no night time pumping, for obvious reason. I really don't care to have a night's worth of water backing up in my tile system. That's not something I prefer.
Perhaps the technology has improved since we inquired. Maybe the concerns I mention above are no longer an issue. But personally, I would want those concerns addressed before I made the investment in solar power to run a lift station.
