Every welder I've bought was used. Replacement parts and places that work on them shouldn't be too hard to find. If possible I'd see if the owner will let you fire it up and give it a try. Try all the buttons and make sure each one works if possible. Turn the amperage dial all the way down and all the way up and weld with it both ways
