| This is my first full year with cows. I’ve got some that were bred in July/August to calve next April/May. I’d like to trailer them to my main farm 7 miles away from where they currently are, for them to spend the winter. My goal was to have them spend the winter somewhere else and bring back to pasture May 1st so that they can calve on grass.
I know that bred heifers/cows are transported frequently. But I wanted to ask if there is any science to it, as to when they should/shouldn’t be transported depending on how far along they are.
Am I safe to transport now (3-4 months bred), 7 miles down the road and bring back late April, early May or should they not be transported that close to calving?
Thanks in advance!
