You would think, but been there done that. I know how, even have the cones, scalder and plucker.
60 birds takes 3-4 of us most of a day from set-up to clean up, birds whole on ice. That’s cutting and/or bagging for the next day and you really don’t want too the next day. Keep in mind there are two 60 bird groups so that’s x2, pretty much kills two weekends

I can, by myself load 120 of them in a stock trailer night before, have them at the processors and be back before noon. Someone else or myself can go back if we want fresh birds that afternoon and get them or a few days later if froze, about 3 hours there and back, that’s 2 people 1/2 day
It’s worth $5 a bird.

And they are USDA inspected and stamped if you want to sell them. Not a requirement until it is.


We decided there are other places in the operation to save the $5 for processing. I have corn and a grinder mixer so we’re doing that instead of chicken feed at the the mill or TSC it’s more than a trade.
