Subject: 30 inch rows

Wife and I were reminicing this morning about the olden days. Her dad wanted to make the transistion to 30" rows and I must have been opposed according to her. Perhaps my 2 MH cornpicker would work well on them.

As I recall we talked to a farmer in Goldfield Iowa that was the first to rebuild a planted suited for 30 inches. He mentioned that the reason we had 40" or 38 " rows was to get horses down through the rows.

I don't recall just when we changed but some time in the early 60's. It required a new planter and new idea pull type corn picker.

I hope you don't mind an old guy blathering about the good ole days.
