Eastern Iowa | I posted here a while back about a problem I was having with a injection pump on a JD 4010, I pulled the pump and the shaft was sheared and the pump was seized. A seized pump with a sheared shaft has no core value so I bought a pump from a salvage yard. A new pump with no core cost over $900. I am going to roll the dice and put it on as is with out having it checked out at a pump shop as I suspect that would end up costing me $100s. I don't have a tech manual for this tractor and would appreciate some tips on installing the pump. I would guess I align a mark on the flywheel with some other mark on the housing while the number 1 cylinder is at the top of the compression stroke and then line up a couple of marks on the pump and drop it in. The number 1 cylinder is the front one isn't it? I am just going by my experience installing a distributor, I have never installed a pump. Any tips or corrections would be appreciated. Thanks. | |
