Soybean Rust Found in Champaign and Bureau Counties Tuesday, October 30, 2007
Soybean rust has been confirmed in Champaign and Bureau counties, according to an announcement on the USDA Soybean Rust website.
From mobile scouting efforts, two finds were made in Champaign County: one from leaves collected in a late-planted field and the other from leaves in a late-planted double crop field.
The Bureau County find was made by an FS crop consultant in a late-planted field and confirmed by University of Illinois plant pathologists and the Plant Clinic.
Thus far, Champaign, Bureau, McDonough and Massac Counties in Illinois have been confirmed to have soybean rust. No management for soybean rust is necessary for Illinois soybean growers at this point in time. These late-season soybean rust finds will have no impact on soybean rust in 2008.
