Subject: Finishing cattle inside barns

wcmn
I am looking at putting up a monoslope barn to finish holstien cattle in. I have out side lots now but need to bring them into compliance according to the feedlot officer at a cost of $20000. The lots get very muddy and work best if the cattle leave before 600lbs. Tried to finish some last year and the mud got the best of them. The guys that have the cattle inside are happy with the performance.
I am not a large farmer and am thinking of a 150 head barn or possibly a 300 head barn and custom feed in half. Does anyone have some input on this, good, bad, and the ugly? Are there any ideas on layout of the builings that work well? I am thinking there would be a feed alley on the north side and feed on the floor which would be 4 inches above the floor the cattle stand on. Thanks for the help
