Subject: Onion substitute for salsa?

Hi all. I have a question reguarding onions in salsa. Is there any way to substitute them out for something? I like onions, but they dont like me. Fried onions are fine, or otherwise well cooked onions, but raw seems to have an acid issue. I got to wondering if there is either substitute that one might use in salsa and still retain the basic salsa properties, as in chip dip and salad seasoning, or a way to prepare the onion in a way that it might be less acidic?

Thanks for any ideas. Sure is a nice place here. May need to make a new skin for the page with some of the proper items hangin on the wall that make a home a home versus a house. I could see a pair of oven mitts surrounding the edit button........d:-)
