Subject: Case steiger 9130 Diff oil - Hytran or gear oil

Hello,

I'm wanting to know peoples opinion on which oil would be better and more importantly i would like to know why said oil is superior to use. I've seen both gear oil and hytran listed as fluid to be used in the owners manual depending on 9130 or 9230. As far as i know, they used the same axles. Local case dealer mechanic suggested hytran, but other forum posts had most people saying to use 80-90 gear oil. Currently the tractor has hytran.

To me, if a regular non-4WD tractor (magnum for example) has to use hyrtan for it's diff, why couldn't it be used in the 9130? The only reason i can think of is there is no cooling in the diff of the 9130, so under heavy loads the oil could get hotter, thinner and provide less protection compared to Gear oil. Does this sound like a sound theory? Thanks!!!
