SW MN Fulda | So i just purchased this 04 polaris 500 ATP and it test drove around the yard just fine, went down to the corner and back (maybe 1/8 mile), and didnt go any farther. Next day i go to take it to the other farm and get going about 40 and after about 1/4 mile, it starts choking out and spitting and sputtering. it never did die on me but id have to slow way down and then let it get itself figured out before going slow again. I pulled the air filter today and it didnt really look excessively dirty but it almost looked like there was a little bit of fuel getting in there and the plastic was a little wet. Any ideas? it starts right up fine, I havent checked the spark plug yet but since it sounded like it was suffocating itself, i figured id start at the air filter. I'm not a pro on ATV repairs so plain and simple terms would be appreciated! what else could be causing this? need new carb/carb kit? spark plug? still swap out air filter even though current one doesnt look bad?
Thanks! | |
