East Central Ia | We have had field horse tail patches for years. They seem to have very little effect on crops but I have noticed more patches developing recently and would to try and adjust my chemical program to help control it.
There are enough patches in enough places that manually spot spraying them would be a nightmare.
I want to add a little more kick to my corn program to help with waterhemp anyway.
Currently use a lot of metolachlor and mesotrione. Basically halex GT type program.
I have had good luck with resicore in the past and am leaning towards moving back to that.
Does the stringer in resicore have activity on horsetail?
Also going to look into spiking my current program with some hornet. From my research Python seems to be a chemical that can help control horsetail. Hornet would give me stinger and python.
My post program is a planned early, row and go, type pass. We are narrow rows and this helps minimize crop damage.
Several factors effected this year’s performance but overall I am not happy with waterhemp control on my endrows. | |
