Subject: Backgrounding calves with buckets.

I have some calves that will be weaned early at 400lbs that I’d like to background to 750ish.

I’m new to this, but have medium size feed bunks, good fence, a bulk bin, grass hay and bale feeder.

I have access to cracked corn and DDGs. Possibly a protein pellet as well. Would like to utilize 5 gallon buckets for feeding with the free choice grass hay in the pen.

Just looking for some advice or recommendations in this.

I understand the importance of not too much gain too quickly and also treating sick calves immediately, hopefully the vaccination program helps avoid that scenario.

Thanks
