Subject: Hugger corn heads- early serial numbers

West Central Iowa
Were there any major changes in the Agco hugger corn heads in the late 90's-early 2000's from one that is a '92 model in the 15-16,000 serial number range? I am going to look at a 92 model tomorrow. Any glaring weaknesses or things to look for other than the obvious wear items like chains, sprockets, knives, and sprirals? I have been told the row unit slip clutches can wear on the splined shafts and that some end up welding them as a quick fix. Not sure if the head will be in the air as it is on an estate sale, so there may be no way to look under the head. Any hugger history or experiences appreciated.
