Subject: Hill drop cotton

I am interested in planting hill drop cotton, right now we use the standard JD plates planting from 40k to 50k (3 to 4 inch spacing) seed per acre depending on dry or irrigated. Though we normally end up with a stalk every 6 to 12 inches. How many seeds do you need to drop in the hill to get it up I am thinking 2 seeds per hill at 6inch spacing per hill should work.  Most of our soil is a clay of some sort but we do have quite a few acres of river sand bottom ground that will get a 1 inch crust on it after a 2 inch rain.

Just interested in what ya'll that have tried it have found.
