Subject: How long is too long in the freezer for freezer beef?

When my wife and I got married her parents gave us some beef from a steer they had butchered a few months earlier. We used most of it quickly but had no experience cooking some of the cuts and didn't take the time to learn about them. We recently bought a half a beef from a neighbor and I want to use up the old stuff before we start on the new. I'm sad to say that we have one steak and some rib roasts that have been packaged for two years now. How do I tell if it's alright? The rib roasts are what I'm working on learning how to cook now. Thanks.
