East River SoDak | How many run cattle through the chute and scourguard close to calving like the label says on 4KC and Guardian? After doing this for about 5 years and every year having a few cows slough calves after it makes me think there has to be a better way. It costs a couple calves to pay for the vaccine, also. We haven't been having much of a problem with scours but i really want to keep it that way. We are able to spread our main older herd of cattle out a little (about 350 pairs on about 200 acres), and i try to do a less intense version of the Sandhills Calving system but don't have room to be moving them all the time on clean ground. Scour bos advertises giving it at preg checking time but according to its label even that is supposed to be given within 2 months of calving. So that either means preg checking late or another time through the chute. | |
