South Central MN | For what its worth I have a 2010 business surplus pc that I'm converting to a server. It was on Win 7, and it was super glitchy. It kept freezing and giving me black screens. I ended up doing the free Win10 upgrade, gave it 16gb new ram and a cheap new graphics card and it runs like a champ now. Not going to do any sims on it, but the main point is that Win10 seems to be working fine on the old machine.
Personally, I question the advantage you'll gain out of the SSD for your use case. It'll boot faster, but then it sounds like you leave lots of apps open, which from my understanding are running off RAM. If you are doing a lot of read/write stuff and opening lots of different files, then you might see more benefit to the SSD? That being said, MX270 is definitely more on top of this stuff than I am. | |
