Eastern Iowa | Not one, but TWO of President John Tyler's grandsons are alive and well in the US today.
Yes. Grandchildren. Of the tenth president.
His grandson was born 138 years after our 10th President was! Amazing.
I was surprised to learn a few years ago that there was still one Civil War widow's pension being paid (she has since passed) and that there is still one man collecting his World War I military pension. Time is so LINEAR to the lives of most people that these things hardly seem possible, but when you discover the story behind them it makes sense.
