southern MN | On my P3, and I’m presuming newer models forward, the battery maintinence is easier than it used to be. But indeed, one needs to keep up with it a bit. They don’t like to sit around full (now they discharge themselves over time), and they shouldn’t be empty, so charging before you fly is the ticket, needs a little bit of planning ahead. If they sit for months need to check they aren’t near zero or they need a boost.
