E.Central MN | The problem was the contaminated peanut product was an ingredient in other processed foods or was sold through food service companies rather than being the usual product on store shelves. The consumer couldn't just look at the label to see if it contained product from that company. In many cases the consumer never saw any label such as the residents in nursing homes or students in school lunch rooms. And it had to be a nightmare for food processors because they had to look at every product they produced where peanuts were used and decide whether there was any risk of it being contaminated as well. That is why there seems to be an endless number of recalls in this case. The name brand peanut butter products didn't have a problem, right? | |
