My first was the Mav Air from DJI.
I too, was scared of crashing but it has sensors and is easy to fly. Besides hitting return to home inside my house and watching it hit the ceiling at a ungodly speed, and a powerline, i have been fine.
It has all the goodies, if you have 1k in the back i say get it with the fly more pack,
