| I was driving around the other evening, checking the progress of the harvest in our area. It amazed me the increasing number of fields that had excessive regrowth. It looks to me this is lost profit potential. I once heard 2 seeds per every square foot left in the field is a loss of one bushel per acre. I understand header loss but todays combines with adjustable stripper plates we should be going the other way I would think. Is the acceptable loss higher now? Are farms getting to big and speed is more important than maximizing harvest potential? What do you think the profit loss from these fields is? |
