Got to thinking about something today after seeing a JD 4760 on a large inline baler doing my wheat straw today. Has anyone ever adapted the larger curved dual battery box off a 4760 to a small frame 40 series tractor ? I realize we are talking large frame vs. small frame tractors here but this would really be a slick way to move to double 12 volt batteries mounted in one place, keep the cables short, and eliminate that cross over cable from side to side. Would also make for a nicer larger step area for cab entry. Might be some differences in cab and fender that would not allow this to work ? 4760 appears to have cab mounted more forward of rear axle and has a fender lip extension the small frame 40 series does not. Surely somebody has thought of this or tried this before ? Anybody have both tractors that could do a comparison or test fit ? Is anybody selling a 4760 box aftermarket yet ? I imagine it would be cost prohibitive to buy through JD parts.
