southern Illinois | About 5 years ago I said something about foot long ears of corn in this good field of corn to a neighbor of mine who was about 85 and has since passed and he laughed and said, Son I've been measuring corn for more years than you've been alive and I've never measured a 12" ear from grain to grain. So I went on a quest to find and show this man a twelve inch ear of corn. Five years later and the man has passed and I've measured more ears than most people ever thought of and no luck. I've check all the thin spots in the fields where the ears get really big and look really long but never any over 11" and only a couple of those. 10 to 10.5 bottom grain to top grain are large.
So I was wondering If people in other parts where the ground is better could come up with some of your biggest ears you can find with a tape measure in the back ground to prove it and help me find a 12" ear.
Do they really exist??????? | |
