Subject: RE: new carb for old truck

About 10 years ago dad put an Elderbrock 650 cfm carb on his '79 F250 with a 400 engine (also got an Elderbrock Performer series intake and a mild towing cam) and to date we've never touched that carb and it still runs great. This spring I changed the Holley on our C-65 with a 366 over to a 600 CFM Elderbrock with a manual choke and it seems to have alot more low end power now. It was as simple as taking the linkages off the old carb, taking out the four mounting bolts and bolting the new carb in it's place. I had to get a kit to move the fuel line around to the front but otherwise it was as easy of a direct bolt on swap as you could want. I think the carb number I used was 1605 and you can buy them on ebay pretty reasonable.
