Subject: Re: Salford RTS

Thud - we have considerably improved on the leveling issue in the last 6 months - depends on conditions but we can say now that sometimes the RTS will level better than the S tine or C shank and sometimes not as good.

We have tackled the power issue as well - we are still aiming for that 1/2 gallon per acre mark or less - some of these new engines like the Sisu are helping the cause. quite a bit.

Bless the old White 2-155 she still takes 3/4 of a gallon per acre no matter how many tweaks we employ.

Before you rent again get in touch with me and I will pass on some tips and tricks for leveling and energy saving.

Thank you for your comments and feed back on the RTS - ..... a quick thought on your comment "relatively expensive" The RTS on a per foot basis is the weight of a disc harrow and works out to a slightly higher cost per pound of steel than a disc harrow but costs less per pound than a comparable field cultivator. The acre per hour performance of the RTS is between 2 and 2.5 times that of a disc harrow and about 1.5 times that of a field cultivator - So the cost per acre is quite a bit lower for the RTS.

Wear part cost for the 3 tillage tools is about the same with the parts cost advantage going to the C shank field cultivator but if you consider labor costs to change out the wear parts they all end up about the same.

Sincerely
