Near-north Ontario, French River
The good------does an excellent job doing what its designed to do which is chopping residue, breaking up crust , light vertical tillage, and its well built. The Bad... will not accomplish much leveling, if you have ruts in the field you can run back and forth over them all day and the RTS ( and other similar type machines) will NOT fill in the ruts. They simply fluff the soil vertically, horizontal movement of soil is very minimal.Another bad is that they are relatively expensive to buy. Theres alot of bearings ( which while very durable) add to the cost of the unit .Addtionally the RTS ,as well as similar designs, require alot of hp. We rented a 19ft unit 2 springs ago, and at times the 170HP MFWD tractor we had on it was working more then I would have expected.. Would I recommend one.......yes provided the person buying one knows the limitations
