Subject: RE: Looking at Strip Tillage

I work with the Hiniker Company and was at two strip till field days in MN two weeks ago and at Farmfest last week, (also in Southern MN) where I visited with many farmers who asked the same questions as you have. There was much interest in the Hiniker 6000 strip till machine which can be seen at www.hiniker.com

The Hiniker unit is a complete 12 and 16 row system which can be used to both strip to a depth of 10" and apply granular or liquid N, P & K either while fall or spring stripping on in a second (spring) trip to preplant or sidedress N in NH3, liquid or granular form. It is available in 20", 22" and 30" spacing and will work well in continuous corn when stripping between the old corn rows.

Your 250 HP tractor will easily handle a 12 row unit and will be the only fall trip necessary. If that is your planting tractor it would handle a planter even larger than 12 rows but auto steer is recommended. The planter should be equipped with residue manages which would make additional spring tillage unnessessary.
