Subject: RE: 2 speed truck axle gearing question.

Many 70 series Chevy gas trucks built in the 70-80's had an Eaton axle with a 6.5 high and 9.6 low ratio. This axle had a slightly lower ratio available, about 10+ on the low ratio, but the only place I have seen it is in the small Trico floaters from the early 70's. The pinion/ring gear tooth number is stamped on the outside end of the pinion. This will be the high speed ratio.
