6 in high and 8 in low sounds like about what I recall on a gas engine two speed axle in the 2-tons.

 

If you build a diesel truck and find a rear axle from a gas it will give you sprayer like speeds in high....then when you increase the tire diameter you will be coming back to truck like speeds in high and sprayer-like speeds in low instead of getting crazy like our spreader truck, which will do 55 in high gear at about 800 rpm.
