Callao Missouri | First time in my farming career for such wet and cold conditions. It will be at least a week maybe closer to a week and one half before ground is fit to plant. Supposed to be a fair chance for rain all the way up till next Saturday with the highs not making it out of the mid 60's according to weather man today. I figure may 21st + - for planting date. I have DK 785, 6342, and 6166 corn seed on hand should I be thinking about trying to get some shorter season corn seed? What really scares me the most is the weather when the corn is tassleing and filling. It is always a hot and dry during mid July clear threw late August in north east Missouri. If you get your corn in early it tassels and fills early and the risk is not as high. Just getting a little nervous I guess, I am in the same boat as everyone else. What is everyone else going to do? | |
