I'm pretty sure it's a Funk transmission(owned by Deere) and is the same transmission which was used in the Steiger tractors. I think it was a good transmission as far as reliability goes, but I never cared for operating it. Starting in first gear every time......and then every time you push in the clutch to stop it goes back to first was a real PITA. I'm not sure if the JD shares these features, but that's how both the 9250 and 9350 which I spent a fair amount of time in were set up.
