Subject: Ford SOS

Gotta disagree on the Ford SOS. Got two of 'em, Prior 4000s. Great little tractors and transmissions. First SOS with the ORC earned 'em the bad reputation, but then the DDC models were super. You gotta remember that this was the first ever true powershift in a farm tractor and tolerate the the need for correction of some of the bugs of the very first ones. Ford offered a transmission exchange for ORC owners for $600 in the mid 60s. Don't know bout the 6000s, but most of the smaller ones around here, including my grandad's 871 had the new transmission installed. It was then an excellent tractor.
