Subject: Maybe pull them, but not legally in Illinois

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

State police are strongly thinking about, and in some areas already, enforcing axle weight limits in Illinois for farm wagons.  No recent tickets in my local area, but I remember some meetings not so long ago concerning trucks, where they said wagons were a target.  They are issuing tickets for parking on gravel roads next to fields, which makes harvesting possible in wet conditions.  Neighbor got a ticket a few years ago when he was unloading across a ditch.  A lot depends on how hard-nosed the trooper is, but you cannot really fault a guy for doing his job.  The law says it is not legal, but in the past we had a lot of slack given us due to the seasonal nature of harvest and field conditions.

I'm guilty, for many years I pulled 1200 bushel behind tractors in three wagons, but finally got a big truck to do almost the same thing legally and much safer.
