A Deere? What model flex head? What model combine? If a Deere, start out at #2 Dialamatic setting since you are in rowed beans. That should keep, the head from making push ups.Hard to tell you without seeing the field. When setting the reel, watch only one bat and run it so it travels about 1.25 times ground speed.Only run it low enough so the bats push the stalks into the auger and don't lift the stalks so they wrap the reel.Since your beans are already 5 ' tall, they will probably lodge so run the reel only low enough to effectively pick up the stalks.

With rowed beans cutting them diagonally may give the combine a smoother feed with less bunching of the beans on the cross auger. If you have rocks or stones then invest in a Johnson rock guard or attach a piece of 1 1/2" poly pipe just behind the sickle.Use electrical conduit clamps to hold the poly in place.I prefer to use the newer coarse tooth sections. They seem to last a lot longer that the fine toothed ones.

Drilled beans are much easier to cut with a flex head then rowed beans .You may wish you had your rowcrop head back before you are done.
