Subject: Damage vs normal consequences

Brazilton KS

I did overlook the possiblity that this is a "break it to get it apart" type situation.  Those no doubt exist in too many cases, however the fact that the guy reassembled it broken rather then replacing or repair the broken parts, and didn't bother to mention the breakage to anyone, assuming those are the facts, would seem to me to certainly not be in the dealer's favor.

We had a dealer mechanic break an oil fitting on the back of the engine on our 8850 once.  This wasn't a case of twisting something off getting it apart.  He stood on the damn thing.  We paid for the part.  We paid for the labor to fix it.  I've always thought that was a load of bull but it wasn't me taking care of it.  Since then I have learned that standard proceedure with this particular shop seems to be to charge for everything and then some and then reduce it when the customer comes back to complain.  I can't understand operating that way.  They don't work on much of our stuff anymore.
