Can I cut 22" corn silage with a 3x30" head?

Actually i don't have a cutter, but would consider buying a pull type of any brand. I rode in a new holland self propelled once and it had a 6x30" head on it and he was cutting 20" rows and doing a great job, and he said he had also cut 38" rows and did fine too. I just wondered if a 3 row on any cutter would do it, or which brand would be the best?
