Like was said above I would check to see if the auger is hitting the stripper bar. Just lossen the drive for the auger and turn by hand looking at the edge of the flighting for an area that is scraped up or a sharp edge to it.
I'm not sure why but raising and lowering the head seemed to "turn the noise on and off"???
