Subject: Is your Mapdot messy looking?

Freeburg, IL

If you have a mapdot that just looks kind of messy or not real clear and you have a few minutes and want to clear it up, keep reading.
Before

After

1.  Print this page for easier reference

2.  Right click on your mapdot, click 'Save Picture As...'

  • Name it and click 'Save'

    3.  Go to 'Start' 'Programs' 'Accessories' 'Paint'

    4.  Open your mapdot

    5.  Once opened, go to 'File' 'Save As'

  • Name the file again and then change the file format from BMP to JPG/JPEG and click 'Save'

    6.  Go to 'View' 'Zoom' 'Custom' select '800%'

    7.  Click on the PENCIL on the left side of the screen and then go to the bottom and click on the WHITE pallet.

    8.  Draw around the state lines getting rid of the very light gray or other colored squares.  If you mess up, go to 'Edit' 'Undo'.  (this will undo everything you have done since you last let off of the mouse button.  Tip:  Click and hold for short times while drawing)

    9.  When you get to larger "open" spaces, change to the PAINT BRUSH.  You can cover a lot more acres much quicker!  ;-)

    10.  When you have everything cleaned up (perhaps you have erased your mapdot as well, that is okay), click on the RED pallet, and move to your location on the map.  Click ONCE to leave your mapdot in place.

    11.  Assuming you are done, go to 'File' and 'Save' (don't click SAVE AS or it will all get messed up again and you just wasted your time without any way to undo it)

    You're done!!

To upload the file off of your hard drive, click on

In the Upload Mapdot box, click 'Browse' and find your freshly saved file.

Click 'Go' and it should upload.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Submit'

    Ta Da!
