Brazilton KS

They are not caused by overuse of a herbicide, but their dominance IS caused by overuse of a herbicide, or actually a mode of action...it doesn't have to be exactly the same herbicide.

The natural selection will not occur at anywhere near the same rate if multiple modes of action are used.

Doesn't take a real bright cookie to see glyphosate burndown plus RR beans with glyphosate as the herbicide program plus glyphosate burndown plus RR corn with glyphosate as the herbicide program plus glyphosate burndown plus RR cotton with glyphosate as the herbicide program is going to equal a very strong and relatively quick selection process for resistance to glyphosate. Put the same land in a rotation using glyphosate burndown, pendimethalin, soybeans, acifluorfen, glyphosate burndown with atrazine and methalaclor, corn, followed bymesotrione, then glyphosate burndown with pendimethalin, cotton, fluometuron, bromoxynol and you will be years and years achieving adequate selection to generate a major problem.
