Subject: Re: Anybody else ready to quit RR beans?

Kansas
Used non-RR first year we planted beans which was the first year RR beans came out but were in limited supply. Whatever we sprayed with didn't work. Seen some STS beans I sold to a guy that year that did get sprayed with Synchrony get weedy anyway. I know there are better chemicals now, but around here it would take an act of congress so to speak to get anyone to go back.

Other problem as has been mentioned is that all the companies have done away with or only offer one number in their whole bean lineup. Company I sell for only offers one, a 3.9 STS maturity, and my boss says he moved about 70 bags of it this year. When I last sold for Golden Harvest 3 years ago they had just dropped the only plain number in the 3.0-5.0 range.

I think one way to hold off the RR resistance is going to have to be for people to go back to plain, LL, or IMI (IMI corn has sadly become like plain beans; almost none) corn and if just in a corn-bean rotation, add wheat, oats, or barley, and break the cycle up.
