Chebanse, IL.....

Dave

We've used insecticide on 2nd yr & 1st yr corn here for many yrs. Yes, we've seen failure in super dry conditions due to granules not dissolving. BUT-2" of rain should be more than enough. There are areas here that haven't gotten 2" altogether yet this yr....and insecticide appears OK. Howver, we've seen same problem in wet years. Insecticide gets totally diluted out of protection area. Too much of a good thing.

Re. band vs in-furrow....that discussion will go on until insecticide ceases to exist. It's like asking which brand oil filter is best. I believe most chem labels say that either will work. In-furrow does concentrate more to allow more time...but banding does help protect more of the root zone as the roots grow out of the protected area. None of the granulars are systemic to my knowledge.

CRW is not good.
