Subject: Re: disc mower vs. disc mower conditioner

Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251
I have a neighbor with a 1411 new holland discbine and I cut side by side in the same field with a 617 disc mower and we can't tell any difference with dry time in fescue. For only 150 acres I would buy a nice disc mower and a tedder instead of spending the funds on a discbine.

The tedder makes a lot more difference in dry time than the conditioners do. And with fescue, most of the time it sits in the shed unless a rain is coming or we are wanting to no-till into the sod. They are like irrigation: The best way to pay for one is not to have to use it.
