Subject: Amen on the C12 and 13spd.........

Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577
The Western Star we just got has a Cummins N14 redtop.......460hp supposedly, and a 10spd.

The C12 it replaces was just doggy.

The 13spd is nice for us on hills where just a little extra juice is needed to make it over in decent rpms. Quick, easy shift down and then up.

re the 10spd, I don't care much for the shift 5 to 6 and then 7......but I suppose if I did it day after day, it would get ok. Higher hp helps that, though.

The higher horse engine is getting a solid two mpg better than the littler C12.........but obviously those are not real scientific comparisons-----could be the particular engine, etc. etc.

Next rig-------I am going to look really hard for 500hp and 13 or 18.

I was surprised, however, about the ratios on the no. 1 gear---- 10 and 13 being materially the same.
